Scope Builder
featuredA generative AI tool built with Cal Poly's Digital Transformation Hub that drafts scopes of work for university procurement, cutting down the back-and-forth that usually eats weeks of a contract cycle.
Cal Poly manages over $190M in annual spending, and a lot of it gets held up by procurement specialists writing scopes of work from scratch for every contract, bid, and RFP. Scope Builder turns that into a conversation: it walks specialists through the scope step by step, pulling in industry best practices and patterns from past contracts so the output is consistent and doesn't skip the details that usually get missed on a first draft.
I worked on this as part of the DxHub team. The app runs on Claude 3.5 Sonnet through Amazon Bedrock, with a React frontend on S3/CloudFront and Lambda handling the backend. All the procurement data stays inside Cal Poly's AWS environment rather than going out to a model provider, which mattered a lot given how sensitive some of this contract data is.
