An automated auditor for Cal Poly travel expense reports that checks per diems, lodging caps, airfare rules, and mileage against policy, so auditors aren't stuck sampling a fraction of reports by hand.
Cal Poly's travel policy has enough moving parts (meal per diems, lodging caps, airfare restrictions, mileage) that manual review could only ever cover a fraction of the expense reports coming in, which meant most violations just went unnoticed. This system runs every report against the policy automatically and flags the ones that need a human look, instead of the other way around.
Built with Financial Services on AWS: S3 for storage, Lambda for processing, Bedrock for the judgment calls that need more than a rules engine, DynamoDB for policy config, and a Next.js frontend on Amplify.
